Stumbling Blocks

“Very often we are our own worst enemy as we foolishly build stumbling blocks on the path that leads to success and happiness.” - Louis Binstock

We are our own worst enemy. Until we sufficiently humble ourselves and rid ourselves of our own pride and carnal desires will we remove the stumbling blocks before us that keep us from further light and truth.

The principle of stumbling block is temporal and eternal. The temporal way is the fact that we cannot not get over our pride enough to embrace a new method or a new way. The eternal principle is we cannot get over our pride enough to embrace God's way or the way of old and simplicity.

The great thing about this life is it is simple and God is simple. Yet we live in a World of complications. We over complicate transactions, relationships, and daily decisions to the point that we confuse ourselves. We set our hearts upon the things of gain in status, money, and lifestyle.

The B Side To The Truth is we can create anything we want in this life. Just because we can, does not mean we should. Just because we can drill off the Gulf Coast 30,000 feet below to a super well, doesn't mean we won't destroy sea life. Just because we can do anything with money, doesn't mean we should.

The reality is we can do a lot of things in this life, but it doesn't make them right. In fact doing those things are what typically creates eternal stumbling blocks. While we feel we may be conquering the World... ask our self this question... is it our World to conquer?

Blind Society

“A blind man knows he cannot see, and is glad to be led, though it be by a dog; but he that is blind in his understanding, which is the worst blindness of all, believes he sees as the best, and scorns a guide” - Samuel Butler

A society full of greed that seeks after power and gain. Is it a perception that just a few have of our human race today, or is it real and we are just so blinded we cannot not actually see the greed exposed?

We are quick to point at the failures of others, to judge, and to hang... yet our own follies are swiftly justified through our ability to analyze and connect with our emotion. Emotion is like glue... whether it be positive or negative... it is what connects and anchors us to a belief in our subconscious mind. A belief in a relationship, in a standard, in a way of life. And then subconsciously this belief dictates our actions to support this belief and we don't even recognize it in our own day to day action, yet are quick to cast the stone at another.

How can one guide another when he too is blind. Truth is the simplest form of light in which when received knowledge and understanding are bestowed upon us in which we can not describe to another, yet merely converse with one who too has received the strength through understanding. Receiving is only given through one source... yet to be able to lay down our pride and be sufficiently humbled to learn is the most difficult task that lies in our path. We have been given stumbling blocks that we may look, and lest we see with our eyes and hear with our ears... we will continue blind and deaf constantly tripping over stumbling blocks.

The mind is an amazing tool, yet it is no different than a self-programming computer. Over time it will be so cluttered with false viral commands, it is almost impossible to clear the memory and begin from scratch rebuilding the correct components.

The B Side To The Truth is the majority of people in society are living life merely in relation to their experience's in life. Yet history goes thousands of years back and time and time again the human race repeats the pride cycle which always has lead to the destruction of their people. To know truth it must be inquired of... and to inquire means one must act on faith in which they believe they can receive light with in their vessel.

Compassion... what is it

“Compassion will cure more sins than condemnation.” - Henry Ward Beecher

One of the most difficult things for a human being. Each individual person on Earth has walked a different path here on Earth. Many have walked similar paths which allow compassion on some people... yet for all it is still some what difficult.

Empathy... the ability to imaginatively share similar feelings as another human being.

Sympathy... the ability to share similar feelings as another human being because of having gone through similar scenarios in life.

In our World there are usually two radical sides we battle against. They are known as good/bad or right wing/left wing. Even in the United States of America's own government we see to different sides... republicans and democrats.

They boil down to spirit of the law and letter of the law. We have those that feel the letter of law... i.e. not partying, drinking, smoking, gambling, etc. is the way to a fulfilled life. Those that are considered to live the spirit of the law typically drink, party, smoke, whatever... yet they are typically the quickest to accept another and give to anyone whether it be a complete stranger or close friend or family member.

The B Side To The Truth is we all struggle with compassion when we look only through our eyes. We must look at things through others eyes. This is where empathy and sympathy will become necessary. And having sympathy is not always an option. So the ability to seek to understand why other people act, say, or do the things the way they do... this must be consciously developed. In reality both sides are never completely right... and there must be balance sought.

So remember you are merely the captain of your own vessel. Sail your ship the best you know how and always seeking divine guidance in which way to set sail. Allow others to sail their own vessel.

Waiting

"How much of human life is lost in waiting?" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Pondering the days of my life and where I am and what I have accomplished. I realized that it was never the accomplishments at all I desired, yet the feeling of freedom. The feeling of escaping an invisible captivity and a breath of fresh air.

In the new movie out with actress Julia Roberts called Eat, Pray, Love it depicts the life of lost and confused married woman. As she scrapes up the pieces of a crumbled life that isn't what she thought life would be she dates a strapping young man many years younger than her. As she is laying and crying on the floor next to this guy's bed... he simply says to her... "stop waiting". And that is just it.

As I have traveled in South America and sought after those things that I thought brought happiness, I realized happiness is in the journey its self. It's not the arrival of getting on top or making the sale graduating school. Yes it is a great relief to get a commission check or be done with satanic school of college or to become successful in business, yet that too... that feeling... it wares off and fades away.

What has never faded away is the memories of people and experiences. Whether they were success or failures. The experience brought me knowledge and learning. And this has lead to hope that there is more. And little by little I learn how small I really am in the scheme of things and how much more there is out there besides the small World that has been created in my mind.

Romans 5:1-8
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Realizing there is more than just ourselves in this life encourages us not to wait. Going and doing is a temporal and eternal principle.

The B Side To The Truth is life is now. It is not gonna begin one day... it has already began. No matter your situation it is your situation and the ability of making the best of it while learning to better the situation giving. Money is said to buy everything and anything... as I rapidly pass through life I realize it can't buy everything... it can't buy back time. So ask yourself... how are you spending the currency of time in this game of life?

Slow Life Down

“Always remember to slow down in life; live, breathe, and learn; take a look around you whenever you have time and never forget everything and every person that has the least place within your heart.” - Anonymous

In a highly fast paced culture we have conditioned ourselves to rush through everything as if it is a race. To be the first to finish school, to hurry and get married, to quickly get the best job, to be the fastest to have children, to set our eyes on the deadline of retirement. So many times have we set our eyes on things that are have-do-be mindset. For example: "Once I retire, then I will be able to do whatever I want." The question is why don't we do whatever we truly want right now.

In each one of us has a personal compass, that when we listen to it, we will be guided through a life of joy. To be able to enjoy life we must slow down, we must get away from technology, we must be doing activities that create productive energy with those we love and enjoy to be around.

Daily it must be a focus. After so many years of being conditioned from Elementary to middle school to high school clear to an adult life, we as human beings are being conditioned on how to live, act, and even how we are suppose to enjoy life.

The B Side To The Truth is we will never find joy and happiness in the rush of life. We will only find joy when we decide we already have it all around us. It is like a flower garden though. No matter how many times we pass it, if we don't stop to look and to smell, we will never notice it and the beauty it projects.

"Life is a garden; dig it." - Joe Dirt

Be Alive

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” - Howard Thurman

We as a human society find ourselves in the same situation that our ancestors found them selves in a little over 2000 years ago with the beginning of the fall of one of the greatest empires, The Roman Empire, and also the beginning of the destruction of Jerusalem, the Holy City. It was a time of turmoil, lies, and deceit to get power and gain over the people. It was a time to burden them with heavy taxes and slavery.

Again our World, our people, and humanity are repeating history. The one interesting thing is this... There are some things we can control in life and there are some things we cannot control in life. One thing we cannot control in this life is the fact that this was when we were born. This is our time frame.

So live for today. This is your one time of having a mortal existence. You may not be the richest, you may not be able to travel the World abroad, hell you may not be able to afford dinner at Chili's even. Yet there is one thing we can all afford to do... and that is to live life to the fullest today. Love yourself, Love your God, Love your friends, your co-workers, and love life.

The B Side To The Truth is to become alive we must act without fear. For tomorrow truly may have a bumpy path in our road... although we hope and pray for another day of bliss. We cannot afford to live our whole life waiting. We must go and we must do the things that show life. The key to living is loving!
